Earth Day DC 2009
Anacostia Park Skating Pavillion

Join SCA for a day of service at Anacostia Park in honor of Earth Day. Get your hands dirty planting trees and grasses, weeding gardens, removing invasive species, mulching, and other conservation projects.

Meet SCA alumni, Conservation Leadership Corps members, SCA supporters, community members, SCA staff, and National Park Service staff.  We will be working on a variety of projects around Anacostia Park, so there will be something for everyone!

Tools, gloves and project materials will be provided. Lunch will also be provided for all volunteers as well as an exclusive SCA Earth Day 2009 T-shirt.

All volunteers must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Don't wear anything you'd be afraid to get dirty! Consider wearing multiple layers and bring a rain jacket or other rain gear if you have it.

The nearest Metro Station is Potomac Avenue on the Orange and Blue lines. We will be running a shuttle van from Eastern Market Metro Station to Anacostia Park between 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. We will have a limited number of seats, so please indicate if you will need to ride the bus and how many of your guests will need a seat. Seats are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis.

If you miss the shuttle, it's approximately a 20 minute walk to Anacostia Park from the Potomac Avenue Metro station. Parking is also available free of charge at the park.
