National Public Lands Day
My name is Cashea Arrington and I am serving as one of your Alumni Council members for 2009-2010. I am a fellow alumni, where I have served on 2 High School Crews and 2 Internships in the Great Smoky Mountains and Andersonville National Historic Site in Georgia. SCA gave me a great opportunity for work experiences. I am currently an Interpretive Park Ranger with the National Park Service, at Andersonville National Historic Site. If you've never heard of Andersonville, or haven't had the chance to visit, I have the perfect opportunity for you!
Who: ALL Alumni, family & friends (This means EVERYONE)
What: National Public Lands Day
When: Saturday, September 26th from 10:00am-1:00pm
Where: Andersonville National Historic Site, Andersonville, Georgia
Why: To SERVE
Come out to Andersonville National Historic Site for a day of service.
Projects will include:
-Painting the newly purchased recycling bins with "Green" designs to promote recycling.
-Painting "birdhouses" in the National Cemetery, where flower vases are held.
-Refurbishing wayside exhibits throughout the park for visitors to enjoy.
-Remove invasive species throughout the park.
There will be a potluck style fellowship after the project, where you can bring your favorite dish and share stories of your SCA experience.
