SCA's Conservation Commencement
The 2007 Conservation Commencement address will be Wednesday, August 8th at SCA's national headquarters in Charlestown, NH, delivered by SCA alumnus, writer, conservationist, and photographer, Stephen Trimble. All SCA members, alumni and friends are invited to join us.
Register to attend the Conservation Commencement.
Our speaker this year is a real treat. Stephen Trimble is not only a well-respected western photographer, writer and speaker, but he launched his conservation career with SCA! In 1972, he was an intern in Olympic National Park, so as a speaker for our 50th year, he's particularly appropriate, since Olympics was one of our first two sites fifty years ago.

Steve has published twenty books, including co-compiling (with Terry Tempest Williams) a landmark effort by writers hoping to sway public policy: Testimony: Writers of the West Speak on Behalf of Utah Wilderness. His latest book, Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography recently led to an interview in “NewWest The Voice of the Rocky Mountains.” Read Stephen Trimble’s NewWest interview.
Steve's bedrock focus is the land — western wildlands and natural history — and he has received significant awards for his photography, his non-fiction, and his fiction. Read Stephen Trimble's biography. (PDF format)
The day will begin at 10:30 with tours for our visitors. SCA's Founder Liz Titus Putnam will hold a talk and discussion at noon. A catered lunch begins at 12:45, followed by the Conservation Commencement. The formal part of the day will end at 3:00, but please stay for the afternoon for games and canoeing on the Connecticut River.
SCA is also planning other 50th anniversary alumni gatherings around the country!
